(My daughter eating a plastic donut at the Discovery Gateway museum. Only 200 or so kids have touched that today)
Today I went to the doctor for my 4th sore throat this year (yes, as in the past 6 months) and 2nd case of strep throat. In fact, prior to these two incidents, I haven't had Strep throat since I was a child. I asked the doctor if this seemed unusual, especially to have Strep throat twice in just a few months and I was the only one in my family that got it. She said "that it is possible that I was around someone that was a Carrier of the disease, but didn't actually get it themselves. Some people can go all their lives and never get it." Hmmm, a carrier you say? Who could that possibly be? Oh wait, could it be the fact that my 2 year old puts EVERYTHING in her mouth. Just last week she found a half eaten strawberry at the park and ate it, the donut above, the piece of gum, or wood chips from the park, etc. (Really I could go on and on) and no matter how many time outs or lectures, she continues. Any suggestions, please?
Ummm....no. Take it from someone who has a kid in day care, there is just nothing you can really do about it. I tried until one day I walked into Cole's day care room and saw him sucking on the floor.
