30.9.10

Day 143 - Capitol

As we near another election and political discussions heat up, this picture stood out to me. It really is a beautiful building with such a nobel goal. It is a shame that not everyone under this dome shares that same goal.

29.9.10

142 - Monkey Business

I thought today's picture was a nice juxtapose with yesterday's. When you dress like a monkey, you act like one.

28.9.10

Day 141 - Breakfast

I caught this thoughtful picture of her eating breakfast.

27.9.10

Day 140 - I just want to fly

Took the weekend off. :)

Caught this pic today, right before he jumped.

24.9.10

Day 139 - Leaves and glue

We went for a long walk. (We should have made it a short one. Sister didn't make it home dry.)
We gathered leaves, sorted them, and made pictures with them. The closest one he created himself, a girl on a surf board.

Day 138 - And so it begins...

Halloween candy: A gallimaufry of delights where you can't just have one.

23.9.10

Day 137 - Harvest moon

Apparently last night was a "Super Harvest Moon". The first one in 20 years. What makes this one so special is that it coincided with the autumnal equinox. If you believe in myths, this is the day Persephone, the queen of the underworld returns to the live with her husband Hades, as well as the day that there is a "special" gravitational pull on the Earth which allows an egg to balance on its point. Regardless, the moon looked super eerie last night with the clouds. What an excellent prelude to my favorite season.

21.9.10

Day 137 - Peeped

Potty Training day 2: Much better. (Btw: "Peeped" is the verb she uses to describe when she goes potty. "Mom, I peeped in the potty." No idea where that came from. )

20.9.10

Day 136 - Before and After

So Operation Potty is underway. Every thing I read said day one is the worst. (I wouldn't disagree, but I suppose there is always tomorrow.)

These were two of the funniest pictures I took. When he saw me take my camera out, he cozied up to his sister. all smiles, until...

This.

Yes, that wet stream running under her would be another failed attempt of operation potty train.

19.9.10

Day 135 - Operation Potty

Tomorrow we start Operation potty. My 2 and 1/2 year is in desperate need of this considering the following: 1. She can change her own diaper (not well, but she still tries) 2. She has successfully used the potty on several occasions (But only once daily, apparently that was her limit.) 3. Diapers are expensive and we are out of them currently and I am too stubborn to buy more.

18.9.10

Day 134 - Fall

Welcome fall! These pumpkins came from our garden (Except the little one, which grew in my son's preschool teacher's garden and has a scary monster colored on the back with a purple sharpie)

17.9.10

Day 133 - Sunshine

I love these bright sunshiny flowers. They were so bright they seem unnatural on camera. I should have played around more with the features, but...

16.9.10

Day 132 - Raspberries

There is no fruit that I love more than raspberries and being able to eat them year round is heaven. I love to pick or purchase these babies in the summer and then freeze them so they can be enjoyed year-round or made into jam. (They usually don't make it much past Januaury. Perhaps I should double my crop.)

15.9.10

Day 131 - Wardrobe malfunction

I think the following photos make it pretty obvious that my child has absolutely no fashion sense and/or should not be allowed to dress herself.

Interesting sidenote: This outfit was removed and changed by myself and then later reassembled in this exact configuration by this child after each article was put away in hidden locations. She found them all!

14.9.10

Day 130 - Mountains

I liked the layers and depth of this shot. It makes me want to see what lies beyond.

13.9.10

Day 129 - More than meets the eye

Nothing cooler than a "former"car. (Aka: A transformer car) Anything fast looking, especially a mustang is a transformer car to this kid.

12.9.10

Day 128 - Reading Time

I love this shot of the three of them reading. I cropped it close because I just felt like I was missing out on the little kiddies from wider view and I really wanted the focal point to be the books. I wanted it to feel more inviting and personal and less distracted by background. Interesting reading selections too I might add, a Rick Steve's travel book, Time Magazine, and I Spy Halloween. Now you decide who is reading what.

11.9.10

Day 127 - Baseball deprived children

It was obvious after the first hit that we have neglected baseball in our home. He ran from home plate to first, 1st to pitchers mound, and then (after some help) to second. From second back to first, followed by some crazy zigzag manuver and eventually to home, where it is easy to see he got out.

10.9.10

Day 126 - Mountain sunset

We went for a quick hike after dinner. On our way down, this was the view. I love "Serta" moons. Something about that and the evening star that is in the far left corner was enchanting to my children. Several wishes were made.

9.9.10

Day 125 - Digging for clams

When waiting for the ball to come your way, it is always important to make the best of your time.

8.9.10

Day 124 - A little dirt never hurt...

After our trip, I went to get his shoes cleaned up and ready for school. That is when I noticed about 1/4 a cup of dirt he had squirreled away in them. He had been walking on all of this dirt and sand for the past day.

7.9.10

Day 123 - Best seat in the house

I loved this shot of the two kiddies getting the royal treatment.

6.9.10

Day 122 - Side effects of camping

When camping, this is usually what I expect from this child at some point during each day.

5.9.10

Day 121 - Lizard's tails

These little creatures were all over the place. After throwing a little doubt at the possibility of him catching one, our friend caught one for the kiddies to enjoy. Poor thing probably is still having nightmares of their friendly petting, but what a great way for them to experience nature up close and personal.

4.9.10

Day 120 - The bridge

This was a hike to Hickman Bridge. We ate a delightful lunch sprawled out in the cool shade of the bridge.

3.9.10

Day 119 - Sunflowers

We made our way South this weekend. This shot was taken on the way and in a moving car no less. I love the textures of the "wheat" that almost look like brush strokes. I must have never made this trip at this particular time of the year before, because I was amazed at the amount of sunflowers that dotted the highway. There were even large pastures full of them and often times with cows or horses grazing among them.

2.9.10

Day 118 - If looks could kill

At first I thought I had an ally in my aversion to Mr. Duck, but it turns out this look was just in response to his perceived abduction of Mr. Duck.
Here he is lovin' on this duck.

1.9.10

Day 117 - Sweet Dreams

What is sweeter than a sleeping baby? I should have put her down to sleep, but it has been a long time since I have had a baby around here and I couldn't resist holding her while she slept. I just love baby cuddles!
